The gifts are piling up, with more arriving every day. We never outgrow the urge to shake and rattle them and try to guess their contents. Everyone is looking forward to getting together with family and friends and finally finding out what hides beneath the shimmering paper and ribbons.
Merry Christmas from Boardman Cottage!!
2011-12-24
This week we have been captivated by the Nutcracker. Residents have enjoyed the oral reading of the original story and several different versions of the ballet. When the Mike the Mailman comes on Tuesday afternoon everyone joins in singing carols with him. If you decide to go out caroling, please stop by. We would love to join you for a song.

Soon after Thanksgiving we began to decorate for Christmas. We spent an evening listening to Christmas music and decorating the tree. All of the credit for our beautiful tree goes to the residents. They didn’t stop until it was decided that not one more ornament could fit. Some ornaments come from their own personal collections and each has a special story or memory attached to it. The poinsettias that have been donated really brighten the home.

THANKSGIVING
We had a feast with all of the fixings for those residents and their family members who chose to stay close to home. Other residents had feasts of their own with family and friends. A big thank you to all of those who brought in baked goods. The residents always appreciate being thought of by the community.
Staff and residents have been getting together after supper to play Taboo. It’s our new favorite game. It’s a great way to stimulate the mind and share a laugh. We also enjoy playing Cranium, Yahtzee, dominos and a number of card games. The library has been a great source for finding new games to play.
Trick or Treat
2011-10-31
The residents had a great time passing out candy and food pantry items to the trick or treaters. We thought the costumes were very cute and creative.

Some new faces at Boardman Cottage. The New Year brought us a new house cat, Willow. She has yet to be introduced to Elinor's cat CC, and barely tolerates Bo. She has her daily routine that includes working on the puzzle with Verna during the day and snuggles in with Verna at night. The new year also brought our Bettie back to us, and made our home full again.
