Ways to Donate
Because of low MaineCare reimbursement rates and the high percentage of Boardman Cottage residents receiving MaineCare assistance, our operating costs far exceed our revenues. Our community has generously supported this project and helped us to keep our doors open and provide well for our residents.
Memorial Donations
We gratefully accept donations in memory of friends and loved ones. These donations are applied to our operating costs.
General Donations
We conduct an annual appeal in November of each year to help us meet our yearly operating budget. However, we appreciate donations to support operations at any time.
Wish-List Donations
We're always glad to accept all donations. We have a particular desire for the following items. If you can help out in any way please let us know!
- Floor Lamps
- HDTV
- End tables
- DVDs, Family, Comedy, Romance, Classic
- Craft supplies
Endowment Fund
Building an endowment fund which will provide investment income to reduce our reliance on fund raising is our long-term goal. Now that we are debt free, we are able to apply donations in excess of annual operating needs toward this fund.
Grants
The Beacon Project regularly applies for grants to fund improvements at Boardman Cottage and to support fund raising projects.
In the past we have received grants from:
- The Agnes Lindsay Foundation
- The Maine Community Foundation
- King and Jean Cummings Charitable Trust Fund
- Christ Church Centennial Fund
Please contact us if your organization would be interested in considering The Beacon Project for grant funding.
